Chic Winter Going Out Outfits
Getting dressed for a winter night out presents its own unique challenges. You want to feel chic and sexy without sacrificing warmth. The fluctuation from cold weather outside to indoor heating inside a club, bar, or restaurant also means you need to be able to shed (or add) layers when needed.Â
But don’t worry! I’ve created and sourced my favorite night outfit ideas you can wear all winter long – whether you live in a cold winter climate or one that is more mild. From faux fur jackets to sheer blouses to leather pants, these going out outfits for winter are equal parts chic and toasty.
Going Out Outfit for Winter Ideas
No need to stress about cold weather ruining your weekend plans—These winter going out outfits below are hot enough to keep the heat in!
Leather pants, kitten heels + wool coat.

When the temperatures outside are freezing, putting on anything but your warmest, comfiest sweater can be hard. Instead of your favorite sweatshirt, reach for a ribbed knit top made from a soft, comfortable material.
Add a pair of thick leather pants and a wool coat to keep you warm on a chilly night out. Finish with patent leather accessories to bring the whole look together.
Wide leg jeans + quilted bomber jacket.
I love this casual winter going out outfit for an evening with friends or grabbing a couple drinks at your local bar. The best part? It features items you likely have in your closet already.
Start with a crop top and flattering wide leg jeans for a cute and comfortable base. Wear it with statement earrings, your favorite jacket, and chunky boots. Make it work for frosty temperatures by swapping in a quilted bomber jacket like @carson_light above.Â
Lots of leather.
get the look:
If you want to look edgy and elevated when you go out, a little (or a lot) of leather is all you need.Â
In this look, I’ve gone for black faux leather pants, which are the perfect winter staple, in my opinion. I wore a stud-embellished shirt for texture and glitz and then layered a leather blazer on top. My leather pouch bag and pointed-toe booties make for the perfect cold weather accessories to finish off this edgy yet elegant outfit.
Sequin skirt, button-down + wool blazer.

A night out is the perfect excuse to wear sequins. In my opinion, this look is made for dancing the night away with friends and makes for the ideal clubbing winter outfit!
A mini sequin skirt is fun and fabulous. If bare skin is too much, just add a pair of tights to keep your legs warm. An oversized blazer and masculine white shirt bring contrast, while kitten heels and a shoulder bag complete the ensemble. Bring a long wool coat for more coverage when the temperature drops.
Fuzzy knit + mini skirt.
Still looking for your next going out outfit for winter? You can’t go wrong with a sweater and skirt combo.
Here, I love how @dani_elle_laz styled a fuzzy sweater with an embroidered mini skirt in a similar shade of gray. On a cold winter night, I would recommend adding thick tights and opt for knee-high boots. But if the weather is more mild, bare legs and slingbacks totally work, just add a long wool coat!
Denim, aviator jacket + suede heels.
get the look:
When it comes to night-out dressing, a nice top and jeans are always a go-to. This is a classic combo—one that never goes out of style, in my opinion. You can jazz up this basic (but chic) going out outfit for winter with chunky jewelry, an opulent handbag, and old faithful heels.Â
To warm up this look for winter, outwear is essential. I’d reach for a faux fur-lined aviator jacket to keep away the winter blues and add a stylish cool-girl vibe to the look.
Slip dress, sheer top + knee-high boots.
get the look:
A mini slip dress and knee-high leather boots are a foolproof outfit for a winter night out. To elevate the look further, I’ve added a sheer long-sleeve top and tights for a barely-there warm layer.Â
The tall boots help combat chilly temperatures, but I’ve grabbed a long-lined wool coat for extra warmth. Finish the outfit with luxe statement earrings.
Loose denim, fun top + oversized coat.
I love a fun going out outfit for winter! This leopard print top adds a playful touch that contrasts beautifully with the oversized tailored coat. Animal prints are a major trend this winter season, but any pop of color or interesting print will fit the vibe.Â
Loose jeans are one of my favorite pieces to wear on a night out when I want to feel comfortable yet stylish. The baggy fit is having a major moment right now and looks effortlessly cool styled with any outfit. Don’t forget a statement bag and comfortable shoes for trotting around town!
Leather pants, embellished top + puffer jacket.
get the look:
Here’s another night outfit featuring leather pants! This versatile piece brings a cool factor to any winter going out outfit, especially when paired with this rhinestone mesh top.Â
This outfit is eye-catching on its own, but I love having a black bralette peeking out for an ultra-sultry look. For more warmth and coverage, try layering a long-sleeve underneath, like I did here. On super cold nights, I’d reach for my cropped puffer jacket, though a wool coat would look just as fab.
I could easily see this worn to a restaurant for dinner and drinks, a house party, or a fancy bar for cocktails. Wherever the night takes you!
All black with a warm coat.
get the look:
You might be tempted to go for an all-black look on a winter night out. And I say—go for it! An all-black going out outfit is both sophisticated and sexy. It also provides the perfect neutral base for a warm statement coat.
For this styling, I’d opt for a cute mini skirt paired with tights and knee-high boots. A simple black turtleneck underneath a cozy coat is a stylish balance of cool and classy.Â
Statement shoes.
The easiest way to transform your daytime look into a night out outfit is with a statement shoe. This could be a fun metallic heel, as seen on designer Rebecca Minkoff, a chunky platform, or a colorful pump.Â
I love how these gold heels and moto jacket add an elevated, cool vibe that will take you from desk to drinks. Swapping the biker jacket for a long coat will do just the trick if you need an extra warm layer.Â
Slip dress, tall boots + leather blazer.
get the look:
A silk or satin slip dress is an amazing summertime staple, but it also works in your winter wardrobe. Reach for a short slip dress when you want to feel fun and flirty on a night out. I’d add some much-needed warm layers with a leather blazer, tights, and knee-high boots to make this look winter-ready. Â
In my opinion, this is a perfect clubbing in winter outfit. Because the fabric is lightweight, you won’t feel overheated inside a packed bar or club, but you can still add those necessary layers.
Faux fur jacket, denim + bustier top.
get the look:
A great going out outfit for winter plays with textures and layers. This bustier top, jeans, and ankle bootie combo is undeniably chic, but the faux fur jacket really levels up the look—and keeps you warm as you hop from club to club.
Style tip: Coordinate the colors of your top and faux fur jacket to achieve a sophisticated monochrome moment. Not only will you stay warm all night long, but you’ll look good too!
Lace top + leather pants.
The best clubbing in winter outfits feature leather (or faux leather). One of my go-to ways to wear this winter fabric is leather pants, which you can dress up with a sheer lace top and classy wool coat for an outfit that will take you from dinner to drinks.
This look is perfect for a night out. But it can easily be modified, like swapping the leather pants for a leather skirt or the lace top for a bodysuit.
Chunky sweater, mini + biker jacket.
get the look:
Whether you layer a sweater over a mini slip dress – like I’ve done here – or wear it with a mini skirt, you’ll want to rock this night out outfit on repeat.Â
I love to get new use out of my slip dresses in winter by adding a sweater on top—it’s such a simple trick that completely transforms the outfit. In my experience, wearing tights is a must when wearing a skirt in cold weather. I’d further winterize the look with tall boots and a leather jacket.
Black top + brown leather pants.
get the look:
A ribbed top paired with leather pants offers enough coverage to keep you warm on those chilly nights out. In this winter going out outfit, we’re switching things up with brown leather riding pants to create a streamlined look perfect for this frosty season. If you don’t have leather trousers, a quality pair of leather leggings would be just as chic.Â
Pair this with heels, an elegant coat, and a spritz or two of your favorite perfume.Â
I hope you have enjoyed this list of cute bar or going out outfits for the winter season! No matter if you live where the winters get super chilly (like me!) or where the winter is more mild, one of these looks is sure to be perfect for your next night out!Â
